SP Leadership Opportunities

At Elkanah House Senior Primary we believe strongly in the “servant leadership” model of leadership. Servant leadership is a philosophy, and a set of practices, that enriches the lives of individuals, builds better organizations and ultimately creates a more just and caring world, through serving others as a leader.

In Grade 4, 5 and 6 pupils have the opportunity to serve their classes by taking on formal class responsibilities.

In Grade 6 our pupils have two additional opportunities to develop their leadership skills. The first involves serving as duty monitors. Each Grade 6 class is assigned a term to fulfil the roles and obligations of a monitor. The second, and most beneficial opportunity is to volunteer to take part in the Grade 6 Leadership Program. In this program the pupils have a set of tasks to complete that require them to, amongst other things; volunteer their time, learn new skills, coordinate an event, be adventurous, and read up about leadership qualities.
