About Us

At Elkanah House we strive to LIVE Authentic Lives; to LOVE Beyond Self; and to
LEARN
Beyond Examinations!

OUR STORY

Founded in 1997, Elkanah House is a co-educational independent school located in the beautiful beachside suburb of Blouberg, Cape Town.  Our school boasts three picturesque campuses, each with a unique architectural design overlooking Table Mountain, which is conducive to allowing children to learn optimally in a homely environment.

We are proud members of the Independents Schools Association of South Africa (ISASA) and follow the IEB (Independent Examinations Board) curriculum to ensure academic excellence.

Our name, Elkanah, means "God's Creation," and we uphold Christian family values that foster confident, compassionate, and creative young men and women.  Over the years, Elkanah House has built an outstanding reputation for providing a happy, engaging and enriching educational experience.  This is largely due to our extraordinary team of passionate and caring educators who create a space where learning is meaningful and joyful.

We are home to over 1 400 students across three campuses :

  • Sunningdale Campus (Grade 000 - Grade 6)
  • Blouberg Campus (Grade 000 - Grade 3)
  • High School campus (Grade 7 - Grade 12)

Each campus operates independently while remaining closely connected, fostering a   strong sense of community and continuity throughout a child's schooling journey.  This unique structure allows us to offer the personal attention of a small school while enjoying the extensive facilities of a larger institution

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

At Elkanah House we strive to create a relaxed, homely, diverse and challenging learning environment, follow the teachings of Christ, empower students to develop to their full potential so that they may leave as innovative, community sensitive, healthy and spiritually active young adults.

THE ELKANAH WAY

We believe that a sound education includes so much more than results.  Our objective is to empower our students to become skilled and interested individuals who can take their place anywhere in the world with confidence: young men and women who understand that living significantly is about making a difference in the world and in the lives of others.

As our students progress on their educational journey from the protective and nurturing ambience of our Preparatory and Senior Preparatory campuses to the more adventurous and independent tasks of the High School, we encourage parents to work with us to help students face challenges and seize opportunities every step of the way.

At Elkanah House, we believe that education is about more than preparing children for the next test, the next grade, or the next milestone. It is about preparing them for life.

Here, every child is known. Every child is encouraged. Every child is given the space to discover who they are, what they love, and how they can make a meaningful contribution to the world around them.

From the earliest years through to high school, Elkanah House offers a warm, values-driven learning environment where pupils are supported, challenged, and inspired to grow.

At the heart of our school are three pillars that shape the Elkanah journey:

Learning Beyond the Classroom, Loving Beyond Self, and Living Authentic Lives.

These pillars guide how we teach, how we lead, how we serve, and how we grow together as a community.

Learning Beyond the Classroom means that education at Elkanah House is not limited to textbooks, timetables, or classroom walls. We believe children learn through experience, exploration, creativity, collaboration, and real-world engagement. Whether in the classroom, on the sports field, on stage, in nature, through technology, or in moments of discovery, our pupils are encouraged to ask questions, solve problems, and develop a lifelong love of learning.

Loving Beyond Self speaks to our commitment to raising young people who are compassionate, thoughtful, and aware of the needs of others. We encourage pupils to look beyond themselves, to serve with humility, to build meaningful relationships, and to understand that their gifts can be used to make a positive difference in their communities and the wider world.

Living Authentic Lives reminds us that every child is uniquely created and deeply valued. At Elkanah House, pupils are guided to grow in confidence, integrity, and self-awareness. They are encouraged to discover their strengths, develop their character, and live with purpose, courage, and honesty.

We understand that choosing a school is one of the most important decisions a family will make. You are looking for a place where your child will be safe, happy, and seen. A place where academic growth matters, but where character, confidence, creativity, and compassion matter too.

At Elkanah House, learning is personal.
