At the forefront of our efforts to sustaining our environment, we have incorporated a Recycling Initiative which has grown to such an extreme that we are now not only affecting our surrounding community outside of Elkanah House, but as far as Du Noon, a township community on the outskirts of Table View.
In July 2010 Elkanah House launched a recycling campaign to further demonstrate its commitment to changing the environment and altering the way our youth thinks about environmental issues. Recyclable waste can be dropped at our campuses on Mondays (Blouberg Preparatory), Tuesdays (Sunningdale Preparatory and Senior Primary) and Wednesdays (High School Campus) between 7am and 8am.

Students, parents and staff members combine efforts for this cause and every week from Monday to Wednesday we collect an average of 7 000kg of recyclable waste on our respective campuses. Not only are we supported by our students, parents and members of staff, but residents of our surrounding communities have joined hands with us to collect and drop off recyclable waste at our campuses, lending a helping hand towards our passion for conservation.

Extending Our Impact
In conjunction with Beyond Education Elkanah House has extended its initiatives towards the Du Noon Swop Shop, a project in the heart of Du Noon Township, where the community is invited to drop off their bags of recyclable waste, in return for an item/s from the swop shop. Our Recycling Committee has committed to drive initiatives for collection of secondhand items towards the shop, and on a regular basis donates new items for the shop inventory.
