Team Cape Town 2010
Hong Kong and Korea
Elkanah House would like to congratulate the following
talented young mathematicians who will represent Team Cape Town at International
Maths competitions in Hong Kong and Korea in July 2010.
As part of Elkanah House’s commitment to furthering
mathematical excellence, the Top mathematical achievers are invited to an
Advanced Mathematics Training Programme at Elkanah House in the run-up to the
teams’ departure. This training will stand all participants in good stead in
their mathematical careers.

On 8
July 2010, with six weeks problem-solving mathematics training behind them and a
skip in their stride, a team of four budding young mathematicians departed for
Hong Kong to take part in the Hong Kong Math’s Primary World Contest.
Following two rigorous math’s selection tests sat by 165 candidates, the four
Mathematicians earned their places in Team Cape Town to participate in the
international math’s competition.
Team
Cape Town not only achieved the highest results in recent years but also tied
for first place from South Africa with Bloemfontein.
The team included Michael Thomson (Bishops), Christian
Cotchobos (Rondebosch), David Kube (Sweet Valley) and Jordan Ferreira (Elkanah
House).
