Celebrating World Outdoor Education Day

‘Play is our brain’s favourite way of learning” Diane Ackerman

Elkanah House joined over 2 million children worldwide in celebrating World Outdoor classroom day today!  This is a very exciting initiative which seeks to take lessons outdoors and bring play into learning new concepts.  Being outdoors has many benefits. Research has shown that it can improve children’s health, help build connections with nature and engages them in learning.  Play is such an essential tool in every child’s life. It teaches them to think critically, solve problems, work as a member of a team, be creative, be resilient and it also brings joy and happiness to our lives.

Our teachers used the outdoors to inspire them to provide opportunities for our children to live out our school motto of Carpe Diem – seize the day. Our outdoor classroom became huge with room for the children to move, discover and explore under their teacher’s leadership!

Pictures speak a thousand words, so here are some magical moments we would love to share with everyone.
