LETTER OF THE WEEK:
My husband was called home to God in November 2011 and after years of caring for him, I felt like a fish out of water when it came to social interaction. I heard about Elkanah School and all the wonderful things that they do for senior citizens in the community and decided to go along to one of their organised events. This decision turned out to be one of my best and I soon came to realise exactly what ELKANAH stood for to me:
E – is for elderly and the genuine way in which you care about us
L – is for laughter and the fun times we share at the outings
K – is for key, you open up the door to a whole new world for us
A – is for administration and our complements on the excellent way your outings and events are run
N – is for nourishment and the outstanding eats that you supply
A – is for assistants – the wonderful moms who voluntarily give up their free time to assist at the outings
H – is for healing – when dedication, care, companionship, good organisation and fun are thrown into the pot together and seasoned with God’s love it makes for a winning recipe that goes a long way in helping to heal the loneliness and despair so often felt by the elderly.
I am sure that I speak on behalf of all the elderly that are part of your encore group, when I extend my grateful thanks and appreciation for all that you do for us. May God bless you richly for providing this much needed service to the elderly in the community.
